There is nothing more adventurous than renting a boat and heading off into the open waters, surrounded by outstanding nature with the sun on our face and the wind in our hair.

Ibiza has plenty of experienced boat and yacht charter companies, like Boating Ibiza, where you can easily create your boat day trip, with a qualified and knowledgeable skipper and set sail, exploring all the hidden beaches, coves, and unique spots around the island.

Being out at sea allows for so many exciting activities including water sports, diving, or just simply experiencing Ibiza, and its wondrous neighbouring islands from a different perspective.

All you need is to ensure you have the all necessary preparation for your dream yachting excursion, a well-organised itinerary, and then you’re completely free to maximize your day spent on a boat.

Here’s our small guide, after spending many seasons on boat charters here on the island, with everything you need to consider for that once-in-a-lifetime dream boat charter trip…

Maximize your Boat Day in Ibiza

It’s paramount that guests leave and arrive on time in the morning or according to their planned itinerary. Ibiza gets incredibly busy during the height of the season. Leaving your hotel or accommodation on time, or even ahead of schedule could make the world of difference to your day’s events. From early morning traffic builds up quickly, so heading to the port could take a lot longer than anticipated. Ensure that you leave enough time for everything so you don’t need to rush and feel stressed before the day has even started. Late arrivals could mean part of your trip needs to get cut.

Boat Trip Essential Supplies

On the grand scale of things, you don’t really need much to go on your day boat trip, unless of course, you’re staying overnight. It really is important to ensure you have those summer essentials though, much like going to the beach.

Pack plenty of sun protection such as sunscreen, a hat, and glasses (even a spare hat, in case it gets caught in the wind). During the day in the summer there is plenty of sunshine on board, and cool winds, so it’s highly recommended to protect your skin.

Although most boat charters supply essential drinking water, it is never a bad idea to take a little extra, especially if you prefer sticking to your own bottle, or if alcohol is being consumed. Having extra water and staying hydrated never hurt anyone!

Don’t forget to pack a couple of towels and an extra change of clothes in case you wish to dine in something a little different or the evenings get chilly.
If you’ve never been out at sea or you haven’t been on a boat in a long while, then we would highly recommend popping to the local pharmacy beforehand and grabbing yourselves some anti-sickness tablets. Take the prescribed dose at least 1 hour before climbing aboard. Failure to do so could mean the day is ruined within the first 30 minutes. Sea-sickness once it has hit tends to last as long as you are on the water and it can be very unpleasant for the person experiencing it.

Where to Visit in Ibiza by Boat

If you rent a boat for a day, many people make a busy itinerary which can make you feel rushed and stressed out during the day. It’s better to have less planned and have room to enjoy each spot. A good boat charter company should be able to advise you about suggested ideas and routes.

Plan ahead of time and choose the beaches, ports, and any sightseeing activity you would like to do. We highly recommend planning and travelling to discover two of our favourite islands, Tagomago and Formentera.

Ibiza boat charter trip: Tagomago Island by boat

Tagomago by Boat

Tagomago is the ultimate oasis for anyone who wishes to visit a secluded and picture-perfect spot. The island itself, alongside Sa Conillera and Es Vedrà, are three islets found off the coast of Ibiza.

Tagomago offers a large number of trails, cliffs, and a superbly natural environment with sporadic small beach coves that are less frequented. Here you will only find three buildings, a private luxury villa located in the centre, a small beach club, and a lighthouse.

Tagomago stands out as a place of high ecological value and is classified as a Natural Area of Special Interest, protected by the European Natura 2000 network, it is a Site of Community Interest (SCI) and a Special Protection Area for Birds (ZEPA).

Formentera by Boat

Our sister island, Formentera boasts unspoiled surroundings with white-sanded beaches and turquoise crystalline waters. Its natural vegetation and almost boho-chic appearance draw many tourists and visitors each year. Especially speed boats, yachts, and sailors popping over from Ibiza.

Here guests can choose everything from the beautiful beach clubs, to the authentic restaurants, beautiful beaches, traditional villages, and peaceful smaller coves to enjoy for the afternoon.

The waters are always perfect, and it is quite easy just to spend the afternoon relaxed from your chosen boat simply soaking up the sights and sounds, taking a dip, snorkelling, or swimming from right where you are without desiring to do too much else.

What to Eat and Drink on your Boat or Yacht Day in Ibiza

Renting a boat for the day may mean you would like to save yourself a lot of time and effort organising and preparing all your day’s food. The last thing you want to think about is finding the nearest supermarket or preparing picnics to take with you.

Simply order one of our diverse delivery packages ranging from gourmet delights, high-quality fresh Mediterranean seafood or meat platters to share, oyster and champagne boxes, beach hampers, bite-sized delights, creative buffets, sushi, tapas, or individual lunches to take on board.
